New Life on My Front Porch

These are our new baby birds! A couple of months ago we noticed this weird looking "mud nest" and two little swallows flying around our house. Then the mother bird began spending a lot more time in the nest and becoming more aggressive toward us when we walked outside. Today, I noticed this tiny beak sticking out of the nest. I was so excited to see these little baby birds. I grabbed the camera and zoomed in as close as possible and when I looked at the picture I saw another little yellow beak . So, I know there are at least two little babies. Ethan thinks they are so fun. He won't go outside the front door very often though, because that mother bird is VERY aggressive. She likes to fly right above our heads and dive near us. That's okay. I know what that protectice motherly instinct is all about. I would do ANYTHING to protect my babies!

4th Annual Family Campout

My darling kids chillin' in the hammock!
Father & Son
Corey and Ethan enjoyed the freezing cold beach. Man, it was so windy and cold, but we made the best of it. Corey played football with the little boys and they loved it...goose bumps and all.

Me and Kari
Yeah, Kari and I are pregnant and camping! What were we thinking?? It actually wasn't bad. I think the hard part about camping this year was not my bulging belly, but my 16 month old daughter! She was into everything, but luckily we brought the stroller to somewhat confine her.

My wonderful siblings.
I love that we all pack up our young children and our unreliable cars and make the trip for a couple of days to enjoy these camp outs. Charley has a brand new baby boy and 3 other young children. Kari has 3 children under 7 years old. Danny has two young girls 3 years and 18 months. So you don't have to do the math, that is 11 grandchildren under the age of 7 years old...with 2 little girls on the way.

My growing family.
Ethan had such a great time with his cousins and the dirt! It's unbelievable how boys are just dirt magnets. But when your camping you just smile and hope that eventually they come clean in the bath tub. After some scrubbing and plenty of soap, I could see my little boy again. I like to see Ethan having so much fun with the other kids because he doesn't get that very often. Being so much older than Izzy is tough because he has pretty much had to learn to self entertain. This family outings are good for him.

My Latest Creative Outlet

Look at Izzy's hair! I do her hair everyday and I love it. It only looks perfect until her first nap and it's definitely an exercise in frustration to get her to sit still, but dang it's cute, huh? I have really enjoyed making hairbows with my sister lately. Here is a sample of the ones I make for Izzy. I am seriously addicted. I am constantly thinking of odds and ends to put on them. I just make these little ones for now, but I love the big "over the top" ones. Izzy will be wearing those soon. Thanks to all the "hair" blogs out there I find a ton of cute hair styles to play around with. I love having a little girl!
